Incredibly old for a bourbon, this bottling of Pappy Van Winkle'southward Family unit Reserve was aged for 20 years and retains a beautiful sweetness, a perfect digestif whiskey.

Tasting Annotation by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Stewed fruits on the nose, sweet spices, oiliness, white chocolate, walnut.
Palate: Rich, soft and sweetness oak with custard. The mouthfeel is like silk, and Preston Van Winkle likens this to a classic Cognac, and we reckon he's onto something. The maturity, smoothen/oily feel of this on the tongue, coupled with musty fruitiness sum up what we beloved about a decent XO, this is sublime.
Finish: Skillful length, with hints of honeycomb, fiery spices and prune.
Overall: Heaven!

Excellent but not worth the secondary market place toll.
I am only 22, but I have tried a lot of different whiskeys over the past twelvemonth. I am primarily into scotch, merely I saw the fifteen year at a bar a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Today, I was lucky enough to discover the 20 year stocked at a local restaurant, and it is probably my favorite whiskey that I have had up to this point. In spite of being in love with this stuff, I believe that the price bespeak on the secondary market is far too high.

Glenmorangie and Knob Creek DO NOT equal this goodness
This was quite the stuff. Amazing. The guy below who said he thought Knob creek was better had immature pallet and the guy who said Glenmorangie over this needs his nationalistic caput examined. I concord the price is too much and I personally found the 15 meliorate only it was nevertheless an amazing dram.
Glenmorangie= better than this? No way. Sounds like some stupid Scot or Brit just wanted to shit on something he was ashamed he couldn't understand. Compare this to a Royal Salute 36 or Ledaig 42.
If you have money to spare...buy. If not...Invest in the 15 or a bottle of Kentucky Owl.

It's amazing... I only wish the hipsters hadn't spilled the beans to the wealthy and driven the cost up more than 10 fold! I used to regularly buy this when it was eighty-100 per bottle. I've seen it as high equally near 3k... for the same stuff!! Oh well... supply and need.

The newer Pappy'south are definitely not every bit good equally the older 100% Stitzel bottlings. Any bottle that contains bourbon from after 1992 is a blend with the remaining stitzel stock and anile buffalo trace stock. While they tried to replicate the bourbon every bit all-time they could (prices would seem to advise so at least), information technology will be a let down to anyone who is shelling out large bucks. That said, I go along to put my name on about 100 retailers lists every year in instance they get some and willing to pay MSRP (which is about $120 for 20 y/o).

I had a bottle of this back in 2013, and I call back information technology being higher proof. Possibly I'thou wrong, but information technology was more bombastic, and besides a lilliputian less predictable. This year's is amazing, however, despite being less of a sophisticate than this year'due south. I miss the "model plane mucilage" not in the old Schtizel juice. This yr's release has notes of bees' wax, molasses, mint, caramel, and marshmallow nougat, only with less cinnamon than in the xv. I institute it a flake weak in terms of the proof. It's as well bad information technology wasn't up around 100 proof. Information technology would take been so much better that manner.
